Call for New Sacred Choral Music
The choir of St. Luke's Episcopal Church announces a Call for New Sacred Choral Music voiced for SAB choir with or without accompaniment. The call opens on May 5, 2023 and closes on August 15, 2023. The results will be announced in September 2023.
Up to 5 works will be selected for performance throughout the 2023-2024 season. The composer will have the opportunity to interact with the choir during the rehearsal process either in person or via Zoom and will receive a video and audio recording of the performance. The works may potentially be included in an end-of-season concert.
Eligibility:
Composers of all nationalities, faiths, backgrounds, genders, ages and levels of experience are eligible. Works may have been previously performed and/or awarded.
Guidelines:
-
Works must be composed for SAB choir with or without accompaniment. SATB works will not be accepted.
-
Piano, organ (manuals only), trumpet, and tuba are readily available. Other instruments may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.
-
Text must be in the public domain or composer must provide proof of permission to use the text.
-
Text should be sacred in nature but does not necessarily need to be restricted to the Christian tradition.
-
Composers may submit one work without a fee. Additional scores beyond the first submission require a $10 fee per work payable through https://onrealm.org/stlukesbethesda/-/form/give/now. Select "Music Program" from the drop-down menu to submit your fee.
