Educating
Christian Formation at St. Luke's
St. Luke’s program of Christian Formation is varied and designed to meet the needs of a diverse congregation. The goal of Christian Formation is to help people of all ages to live out their Baptismal Covenant. By supporting their growth in faith and understanding, it challenges them to be followers of Christ. The program is designed to:
- proclaim and teach the Word of God
- lead to worship and prayer
- foster fellowship and community
- motivate to service
- promote peace and justice
Sunday School
The Sunday School provides a structured curriculum based on Scriptures and Episcopal worship traditions in the Book of Common Prayer. Classes are available for children from preschool through senior high. In addition to or participating in classroom instruction, the program offers projects and activities such as Advent workshops, special music programs, or field trips organized around events in the church year.
Nursery
Nursery services are provided for children through three years of age, from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. during the church school year. Some parental assistance is needed from time to time.
Junior and Senior High
St. Luke’s young people, 7 to 12th grades, are engaged in Rite 13 Journey 2 Adulthood.
Adult Education
A combination of regularly scheduled and special events makes up the Adult Education program at St. Luke’s.
God In the Daily News
The church should be a setting where we can “think through” and respond rather than react. We should be able to parse out the reactionary thoughts from the responsive thoughts. Our faithful responses to complex issues come from those higher functioning place in our brain, a place that is connected to the more thoughtful part of our souls.
You are invited to talk together, to reason it out and to share with each other the daily news from the perspective of the responsive and responsible people of God. Join us the first Friday of each month 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Bring a brown bag breakfast and we’ll talk about God in the Daily News.
