Guest Rooms in Washington DC Area for the Inauguration
.

Washington DC will be hosting the historic Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2009. People from all over the country want to participate in this historic day and possibly, attend some of the Inauguration Balls. Hotels have been sold out for weeks with rooms now available only in distant cities at extremely high costs.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church located in Bethesda, MD (just outside the Washington Beltway) is making available a limited number of rooms in the homes of its parishioners. To reserve a room for up to three nights stay with continental breakfasts, the church is asking for a flat $500 advance contribution (consult your tax advisor about the deductibility of the contribution) along with a letter from your rector/pastor that you are known to them. Should a guest wish to reserve a room for more than three nights, the additional advance contribution to the church is $200 per night. Many people may want to arrive on Sunday and return home on Wednesday since Inauguration Day is Tuesday.

Available rooms will have either a king bed, a queen bed, a double or one or two single beds. There are rooms with private baths and others where the bath will be shared with other guests or the host. There can be no more than two adults in a room (some rooms can accommodate one or two children in sleeping bags on the floor). No smoking is permitted in anywhere on the host’s property and hosts are not providing transportation services including to and from Metro stations. There is plenty of public transportation in the area. Guests will be assigned rooms on a first come basis based on availability and criteria discussed between the guest and the B&B coordinator, Donald Park (St. Luke’s parishioner). As a final comment, guests will have to agree in advance to these conditions for reserving a room.

If you are interested in St. Luke’s Faith-based Bed & Breakfast opportunity for staying in the Washington area please contact the church office for more information or to reserve a room (301-530-1800).
